Paul Heinz Briest wurde 1927 in Magdeburg geboren und verstarb 1985 in Ahlen. Vielen Ahlenern ist er als beliebter Kunstlehrer von der Realschule in Erinnerung.

Leben

Im Alter von zehn Jahren kam Paul Heinz Briest mit sienen Eltern nach Ahlen. Nach Besuch des Gymnasiums in Ahlen und dem Kriegsende studierte er Malerei und Graphik bei Prof. Tombrock an der Schule für bildende und angewandte Kunst in Dortmund.

Ab 1953 war Briest als freiberuflicher Maler und Graphiker in Ahlen tätig. Viele Ahlener, und auch auswärtige, Firmen schätzten und nutzten sein Können als Werbegraphiker.

Gegen Ende 1953 heiratete er seine Frau Rosemarie Briest. Auch sie wurde, wenn auch erst nach dem Tod Ihres Mannes, künstlerisch sehr aktiv.
